About Us
Our History
Sons of Norway started when 18 Norwegian Immigrants joined together to Organize a Fraternal Benefits society, now known as Sons of Norway.s
Sons of Norway Bothell 2-106 Lodge began in 1973.
There were 26 people who provided the names of 66 other family and friends, and those names turned into 189 Charter members that were initiated into membership when the lodge was instituted on February 24, 1973.
Our buildings and where we are now
The first three years we held our meetings and social functions in borrowed or rented facilities. The Bothell American Legion hall that was used for many functions including the first Lutefisk dinners.
Members began to look for a more permanent meeting place which could be used on a continuing basis.
In the spring of 1977 arrangements were made with Mills Music to lease the upper floor of the building on Main Street in Bothell. It was good and met the needs but it still was not the ultimate hall and it was now too small.
The search for a permanent location continued, with an emphasis on potential ownership.
The search for a lodge ultimately led to the purchase and development of the present site of our hall. This was formerly operated as Sunny Heights Boys’ Ranch.
Volunteer labor and thousands of work hours were donated by lodge members in the development of our new home.
When it was completed, there was a fantastic new meeting hall, rustic fireplace room that reminded everyone of the old country, downstairs craft room, a small meeting room, kitchen, storage areas, and an office.
We moved into the new facilities on New Year’s Day in 1984.
